Demography

The district covers 2947 square kilometers and is divided into six talukas: Valsad, Vapi, Pardi, Umargam, Kaprada and Dharampur. In 2011, Valsad had a population of 1,705,678, of which men and women were 887,222 and 818,456, respectively. In the 2001 census, Valsad had a population of 1,410,553, of whom men were 734,799 and the remaining 675,754 were women.

Valsad is known for production of Vapi and Atul for its mango and its chemical and industrial area.

Mount Parnera is home to temples and is the fort of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Bagwada is home to many temples including Arjangarh fort and Jain temple.
