When Gujarat state was formed on 1st may 1960 Valsad district was part of Surat district on bifurcation of Surat district since 1st June 1964 Valsad district came into existence. However Valsad district was bifurcated into Valsad and Navsari districts on 2nd October 1997 from talukas viz. Umargam, Pardi, Dharampur and Valsad were included in Valsad district. Then on bifurcation of Dharampur taluka, Kaparada taluka came into existence thus, Then on bifurcation of Pardi taluka, Vapi taluka came into existence thus there are Six talukas in Valsad district at present. District Panchayat Education Committee, Valsad manages all 985 primary schools situated in six talukas, manage various activities to increase their mental and physical development, monitor the education imported by Vidya Sahayaks, primary teachers to the children, salary, transfer of teachers and their problems etc. are carried out by the district panchayat education committee. Moreover this office carries out all activities of basic physical facilities viz. school rooms, latrines, water supply to all the schools.
